My understanding is Holden will honor its commitment to stay racing Commodores until the end of 2021. That gives Supercars 2 years to find a competitor for the Mustang.

All jokes aside this is bad for us and Supercars.

That said Tickford and DJR survived a long time without Ford money and largely still do.

teams need to stop relying on Manufacturer money and become self sufficient.

GT4 is a perfect category to transition into for Gen3...

I feel with those 600 who are going to lose their jobs, I don't feel sport for GM one little bit. How many taxpayers dollars did they milk? I wonder how many of those people calling foul on the government for not supporting holden, actually have a Holden in their driveway?. Sorry people stopped buying, that's why they are gone

I don't see any future for GM/Chevrolet in Supercars.

GM are exiting all RHD markets and cancelling all RHD platforms.

There's zero incentive to promote products in RHD markets.

I don't either. At the end of the day, the volume seller for GMSV will be the Dodge Ram, and maybe a couple of hundred Camaros a year. Not exactly volume sellers like Mustang has been in the past.

GMSV's biggest problem is, they want to convert American two door coupes. These are a discretionary purchase, and these generally only sell well when the economy is ticking along well. If Corona continues to halt trade between China and the world, nobody will escape the financial ramifications of a global slowdown, and the first thing that stops selling is expensive, impractical cars.

I think motorsport in Australia is dead.

Edit: Holden are the first, but won't be the last brand to disappear this year. I reckon Honda are in trouble.
