How the Ford Mustang killed the Aussie Falcon

Interesting article speculating on a series of events that transpired into Falcon and Mustang not sharing a common platform as originally planned in 2005. The rest is history.

What are people's thoughts on this? Would the manufacturing of Falcon as we knew it ended anyway?

Best case scenario would have been falcon and mustang both being built here for global rhd markets.

    Fantasy world stuff really.

Disappointing but im not sure it would have survived anyway unless it could have been exported.

Regardless Falcon was dead. Public demand changed and Dearborn would never let us export the Falcon. Look at the Commodore. Only way it would work is if Falcon and Fusion worked together. But now Fusion is dead so Falcon would have died as well. More like how the Ranger killed the Falcon.

If we’re referring to what ‘killed’ our Falcon off I would say it would be a combination of things. Some of these include changing consumer needs and a product that failed to successfully adapt.

about right Colville, so many pieces to the puzzle of Falcons demise and the fact moving ahead Dearborn hardly wished to support us last 20yrs.
FoA always on the back foot budget wise, fight fight fight for what directions they wished for and got half.
Falcon couldn't keep up with Commodore feature wise it was 2nd best near on every time new models came out, if it wasn't for the devoted passion we have we would have walked years before the closure.
Not keeping up with market trends was obvious, Mustang sharing or not Falcon was always going to be cut.
