I quite like the FGII look, all in all I like the whole FG range, I think the exterior and interior styling is great and lightyears ahead of VE. Ford would really have to stuff up with FH for me to not want one, and VF would really have to step up its game for me to want one!
I just hope the FH is packed full of tech. Sync is pretty much a given, but Ford and Holden have always lagged behind on the bells and whistles front IMO so it would be good to see FH packed with everything you would expect from a large premium car.
The FH's lights are said to look like the Terri's and apparently its very good looking.
Also I can confirm that both terri and Falcon will get Sync with the next update. 2014 will see the terri's next update along with the new Falcon.
When considering the overall build quality of the upcoming Falcon and Terri (2014) I think Ford Aus really need to be on the ball with this, and I am only saying this as I believe it will be a testing time for them and a very important one at that and by going on previous finding's and reading's by our local Journo's they will be onto any little drama Ford have like shit stick's to a blanket, they have a past history of singling out Ford's drama's or being very vocal about them and not so much the opposistion.
And as we all know this is very much a make or break time for Ford Aus and in particular the Falcon and Terri.
So if all report's on the VF are true I truely hope that FU and the Terri are really going to be just that.... FU as in (fuck you) Holden/Toyota media etc.
You've nailed it, Andrew.
Furthermore the "other" rwd platform is no longer. JEM was told that S550 is all-new, and the topic at the time was platforms. In other words the next Mustang will not be an evolution of the current Mustang platform. Effectively, E8 is the last platform.
Make no mistake, Ford spent big on the Fiesta, Focus, Fusion, and they got them right, as in, they're winners. All global vehicles, and all part of One Ford's strategy. What makes anyone think that FoMoCo will lay down and give up the large rear wheel drive sector to everyone else? It'll be a case of no expenses spared, because, here, Lincoln will need to be first class, and what great shoulders will Lincoln be for Falcon. That's best case scenario and I may be dreaming but if there's consistency in the One Ford policy this is certainly my prediction.
The only question is, where will it be built? They say no decision has been made beyond FU. Does that mean they haven't made a decision on whether to make a large RWD or not? No! I think the decision is whether they'll keep manufacturing it in Australia or not.

I just want to bring this back up as I have been spending a bit of time reading other blogs. There is a sense of VF killing us before we get going which is odd because we still don't know what is underneath VF in drivelines and suspensions. Owning a car is still about driving it so let's have a look at what we think we know about the next Falcon.
I think we have to put aside the materials used by Holden in VF as a simple unknown. Holden have had a budget that required focus.
After 6 years I think it's reasonable to assume Ford will bring in a new interior. If we start with the ICC and build around that, we need to look at what Ford have now.
It's an 8 inch touch screen with to me good resolutions. I personally feel its subjected to direct sunlight too easily so I am sure the next unit might be relocated or recess, will retain its 8 inch size and will be just like the other sync systems Ford have today.
In the main binnacle VF looks to have a information display that looks very similar to FG. HSV us the centre screen for its car information trinket but in the US and on mustang that service is customised in the main binnacle. The resolution is a bit tacky but you can bring up just about any piece of engine information you would like. Assuming the electronics are standardised perhaps that's something we might see on FPV cars.
Remote entry and start is a feature in VF and it's in most fords these days so I would expect that to feature in FU as well.
For FPV the starter button has been part of their specific DNA and feature set. Perhaps there is now the option to bring in track key for the FPV cars as that step up.
We know Ford have that government grant to focus on fuel efficiency so I would expect some decent engine work and weigh consideration. Dynamically the Ecoboost has set the bar high for the current Falcon so that's a situation that can only get better.
Brakes are a bit of an unknown. In the perfect world it was definitely time for FPV to move on and on first glace brakes seem to be up on the VF.
Appearance at least in sheet metal, Ford seem to be very happy with the direction they have gone. We have to remember that one ford is still in play here so when it comes to design and material quality there are greater examples of corporate values in play.
There is the testing equipment for electronic aids that's been invested in for this country, so while we can be sure every feature of VF is covered I think its reasonable to assume the main ones will be.
Sounds systems, we don't know about VF yet but on our side I think there has been a global focus to improve so perhaps that might be an area of incremental improvement as well.
I hesitate to say much more because what would normally happen might not be possible now.
Generally the car that is later to market enjoys better materials and designs. Holden would have had to sign off on VF interior a few years ago. If we remember VF was halted due to the GFC, so in automotive terms technology normally gets cheaper materials evolve and get cheaper.
I know some don't agree but FG interior is vastly better then VE for me. Don't confuse features. This is purely plastic quality and ergonomics in some key areas. There are some feature sets that are ahead of what we have but the comments we read today about the plastics in VE are now basically getting to the truth of opinion. In general Ford delivered a better interior simply because it was later to the party. I get the impression some are down in the mouth because there is a feeling the budget won't extend far enough.
I simply don't know. The Mondeo at AIMS had the interior blacked out but I would suggest Ford Australia typical endeavour, the knack for achieving more with less will be inspired by design and quality targets under one Ford which is very well received.
History is a statement, the future is a question.
