    2022 Mercedes-AMG C63: Four-cylinder hybrid...

    2022 Mercedes-AMG C63: Four-cylinder hybrid to develop 410kW and 800Nm

According to a report in the February 2021 issue of the UK's Car magazine, the next-gen C63 will produce a total of 410kW of power and 800Nm of torque, thanks to the smaller A45 S's 310kW/500Nm 2.0-litre engine and three electrified elements: a 150kW rear electric motor (operated independently of the gearbox), a starter-generator mild-hybrid system and an electrically-driven turbocharger.
I was expecting a hybrid option, but not a four-cylinder hybrid-powered C63. I think I would have just preferred it to be a full proper EV and do that properly.

Will there be a V8 option?

This is why I ask, what is the point of these ICE configurations?! Over 2000 kg when the similarly sized EV's are actually lighter and faster with better weight distribution.

Yeap Kypez, I don't get it either. Doing both just adds complexity and while still adding another emission making vehicle to our roads.

    Makes perfect sense to me.

Hybrid is the transition step, you can’t expect complete migration in one hit.

Oh, and ffs, if it’s not V8 don’t call it C63.

its very sad - these V8 AMG's are to die for......
I read earlier this last one coming is likely the last V8 sometime ago.

They have hit the jackpot for quite sometime with their AMG's, body styling has been so impressive for some years, its near on the perfect ICE machine for me, even the wagons.

the Nomenclature has rarely if ever aligned with engine capacity in the AMG range.

    A45 C43, etc

AMG are shitting on the legacy of the product.

I understand why they wouldnt want to, they dont want people to notice the change, but IMO they need to reinvent their model nomenclature for hybrids and EV's

Yes, it has been a solid 15 or maybe even 20 years since Mercedes moved all away from their badges reflecting engine capacity. Once upon a time, a 190 E represented 1.9 L Einspritz (fuel injected in English).

Of course, now everything is fuel injected turbocharged, so they altered the names like C200 C250 to reflect relative power outputs rather than engine capacity. The C250 we had was a 1.8 L petrol turbo. The C200 I had as a work car was a 2.1 L diesel. Reducing the old nomenclature they would have been 180E and 210D.

Of course, the worst extension of this is the Porsche Taycan, which comes in three models, the Taycan, Taycan Turbo, Taycan Turbo S. Which is in line with Porsche's normal naming conventions, however the Taycan is an EV that does not have a conventional engine let alone a turbocharger.

All this makes for a good argument not to use car model names aligned with metrics that are likely to change.

I see this as an opportunity to clean sheet the model.

When you change the DNA so much you do a disservice to the legacy of the name.
