I tend to agree. Ford Aus is currently backing the hybrid horse (so to speak) in the hope that the new Hybrid Escape gains some serious traction. As mentioned, it's a very nicely appointed car although a bit weird looking for my personal taste much like the new Puma (another questionable product naming decision given the target audience).
I don't know about other states but in SA Metro you just don't see many of these new Ford models on the road, whereas the equivalent new Toyota, Mitsu, Mazda, Kia etc models are bloody everywhere.

Everest, I've always had a prob with its looks, never liked the curved back end.
It just doesn't look overall "nice" exterior wise to me, yes some will say otherwise especially when some other brands in the same market look fuglier.
That segment is very much what ticks Mums box's, Ford Ev obviously doesn't in the big picture.
The current Rav4 hybrid.
Bro inlaw just got their delivery a few weeks ago.
Updated the wife's 3-4yr old Tucson.
Heaps more tech obviously, loves how quiet it is etc but damn they are fugly as well, so many body lines, especially the front end.
Its as if the deigners did a macrame course.
Yes Colville here in Syd my areas, you hardly see a Ford on the road barring Ranger Mustang.
I mentioned before the wife likes the look of the puma, even I do infact.
Puma name ? imo there are so many strange name models today.
Ford main prob to me is getting Mums through the showrooms let alone thinking Puma isn't a suitable name.

There is still a gaping hole in the market for a performance mid-size SUV & Twin-Cab that isn't priced off the planet.
An Escape RS is what I have in mind. Sort of like the Tiguan R but without the VW tax and a Ranger with a 7.3 Godzilla. These are parts bin creations not totally new designs. At OE pricing the NA 7.3 would probably cost less to make than the 2.0 Twin Turbo diesel.
The problem with society today, is that nobody drinks from the skulls of their enemies anymore.

I know here you can get a Ranger with an LS3 in it. By end of 2021 Supercar season, I suspect it will be going really cheap once they have realized they have created a platform that very few want to watch race around a street circuit.
I'm actually not anti-Ute V8 racing, but for me to be interested it needed to be a slammed, loud, single cab variant with a wild body kit and a Gen3 -spec Supercar motor (Coyote). Basically a supercar Ute.

For me it's got all the right points, looks good, suv, electric, moden tech, safety, performance etc. I'd be bringing in just the GT version n follow with standard version later on. It makes marketing sense to me, the success of mustang here is all u need and it should be followed with the mach e. It allows for a couple of mustangs (cough) in the garage.
It seems pointless to bring in a hybrid that never really had huge success here as a petrol vehicle. Ford should be trading off of an already global brand in mustang.
Any possibility it's our government stand on renewable energy? I mean we haven't really committed to any real reduction of carbon emissions
I know it's market size as well, but do what they did when mustang made a return.
Pix of the soon to be released Maverick have appeared. Apparently leaked. Obviously not my me.
Looks good.
This is a smaller than Ranger 4 cylinder awd.
I reckon if priced competitively it would sell like hot cakes here.
Ranger is a ripper of a Ute but not everyone needs to tow 3.5 tons or conquer the Tanami track.
Sometimes you just need carry a small load and have some ground clearance. Basic farm utes etc. Or city people going camping.
Anyway enjoy.
