    Smile AU Phone Connections

    Hi all,

This might not be quite the right section, but I think there should be enough brain power in here to answer my question.... Having said that, I think I know the answer, just wanting confirmation....

AU II XR8, NON premium sound, 6 stack only, does it have the phone input??

I can find the power plug, but not the second mute, audio input plug. (same in my P250 ute)

From what I can gather, the second plug that I'm looking for connects in to the back of the headunit in the other connection (same as the sub out connector etc(that I dont have)) and "should" have another connector near the power connector??

I'm guessing that only vehicles fitted with premium sound had that connection from factory?

If thats correct, anyone know where I can get the fore mentioned cable??

    Cheers,
    Matt

Sometimes it was taped to the bottom of the stereo. But yes, it connects to the stereo for the mute and audio input. It should be there, but i might have what you need in the garage

From memory the power was above the fuse box? or was that the BA/BF? actually, i think it might be above the BCM.

Yeah, the power connector is above the pink BCM. I've had the head unit it out, but it's not there..... I might pull the one in the ute and have a look......

Yeah, narr. Not there either. So I'm figuring that only the premium sound cars had it standard

I think I know where your going here! lol.

All AU's (SII & SIII at least) have phone inputs and mute available BUT it is ONLY a mono (1 ch.) input......

As you can see (or not) connection C-232 is the Sub-out, Nav and Phone input connection in the back of the head unit. If like mine, you should have an empty connection at the back of the unit.

C-186 is the other connector that provides power, sound output, steering wheel control etc.....

Well I guess you need an iPhone car kit and then use the speaker output and mute from that and put it in the head unit input/mute.
