I would say to keep it simple, make it the best version of itself that it can be.

With your collection, you've got better options when it comes to higher powered packages than the AU if you gave it the same potential output.

What that means to me is a mild stroker. Celebrate and champion what it is over making it what it isn't. Something in between a T3 type setup and where Tim ended up with the AU racecar before starting on the BA project.

To start with the engine wasn’t going to be touched at all, just fix up head issues, tired valve springs and so on. Some checks though appear to indicate cylinder 6 has an issue. It’s not serious but it’s not as health as the other 7. The chances of not having to bore it are very remote. If I’m going to bore it I’m going to stroke it which is where I turned to Tickford and looked closely at T3 just as you mentioned.

They deemed these blocks a risk and went piston only to get 5.6. At the same time I wanted to follow what the factory did I also want to stay away from replicating.

That originally led to a dart 347 short block and I was going to use my entire top end all be it reconditioned. Like Tickford reuse the GT40P heads but stay with my explorer intake but ported. To be sentimental was going to cost a fair bit of money and get not very far which I knew and was prepared for. I wanted to open the bonnet and essentially see a stock engine.

Research online showed me some people have done this but I don’t want stupid compression like they had.

The car has already had a lot of work to it and way more is planed which has further lead to people saying it deserves a proper engine build to compliment what going on with the rest.

That then lead me into AFR heads and Holley intake like norm posted. I would love to use that style but I don’t think I have bonnet clearance which took me back to the Edelbrock performer 2 but hopefully turned around to the right side not the left. It’s actually the unit colville posted.

The requirement to appear serious in sound and attitude more so than a power number is still paramount but part of the T3 engine has become a target for power now.

In talking to people the number one question was what do you want. I couldn’t answer that. I was all about looking stock to start with with potential to add boost at some point. I don’t think that will happen now staying with NA but me collecting a sum of parts and then saying to someone here assemble it needed more direction.

It’s about an extra 2 k to go from a dart 347 to dart 363.

This is dart themselves. A man of war block is overkill for me but researching Dart and how the blocks are cast for stroker considerations has me sold on that direction.

An over kill bottom end fits my mentality and way I think. It does however mean I have a spare engine of which I’m loathed to sell or store.
History is a statement, the future is a question.
