Thats a bit sad to see. Makes you wonder though, is it more about Image then actually saving fuel? It's cheaper then a Prius (~$40K) and an Insight (~$30K), which its marketed as being cheaper to run than, and the only real way to get better consumption is through an Electric, e.g. the MiEV, which is around $50K!

Performance aside it was marketed well and well priced, what's really keeping people out of it? It certainty doesn't paint a pretty picture for Holden's aspirations with the Volt.

All very good points, Clay, this had me scratching my head, too.

Probably did not help that on the 3 occasions I asked the salesman about it I got answers like "not really worth the extra money, the zetec is better value".

    You shoulda slapped him.

It hurts when I hear stuff like that, it really hurts. Going off on a tangent here but it's one aspect of a customer's experience that is most critical, especially if/when the customer has little knowledge or perspective of what he/she's looking at - it is, in effect, the deal breaker.

Ford has focused on quality, economy, style, you name it, but unfortunately some of the dealers aren't keeping up there end of the bargain; they need to hammer their salespeople like no tomorrow. Plus I'm sick of learnin' them about their own product.

Just reading the 1.0 Ecoboost thread and started wondering if this diesel is making way for that. The EB1.0 in the Focus can get 4l/100km, so, in the lighter Fiesta I would expect there to be further saving, probably the same if not better than Econetic.
Only question is when or will it be available?

It's a win on all counts.
Petrol is cheaper at the pump than diesel, so if both are consuming 3.7l you know which one you'd pick.
Fiesta EB1.0 would be cheaper to buy than Econetic.
EB1.0 is lighter, with more power than the diesel motor, so it further improves dynamics.
