That will be an incredible combination.

I wonder if this will fast-track the two-door Mustang's entry into the EV category. There is speculation that the s650's ICE lifecycle has been shortened from its typical 8-year run. As much as I love the S650 I can't imagine its commercial life being extended that long with some major improvements. A hybrid or full EV variant could be one of those.

Manufacturers of these types of vehicles are still afraid of developing something that their target V8 consumers are not asking for yet. Consumers are fickle and expectations can change from one day to the next. At the turn of the century, no one wanted or asked for a motor vehicle either but that is what Henry Ford created.

Many believe that hybrid is the answer to provide the best of both worlds. It really depends on how you look at it. In one way it continues to shift the needle in more efficient and responsible ICE technology innovation.

It could also be interpreted as a compromised and unnecessary solution when a pure EV would do most things better with less complexity.

While such a vehicle like the C8 E will be seriously cool today all hybrids are at risk of becoming obsolete and ending up in no man’s land in 5 to 10 years' time. I even wonder if this is why Ford didn’t go down this pathway with its dark horse s650. While it remains a traditional V8 its purpose and intent are pure and will be viewed as the last and best of its kind.
