Fun fact, Avalon Airport used to have two hours free parking. When the airshow was on, I would rent a big arse lens (usually the 500mm F/4L) and sit in the carpark for near on two hours, exit and come back in again for another stint.
The parking lot is such that one can set up camp on the western side and basically get the same view as those in the airport proper. This isn't possible today, they changed it to half an hour for free.
