People don't realise how much of an issue this is. When I had the BMW, I would get all manner of comments from randoms and a few clients. It was worth less than a Happy Meal yet because of the smelly badge, some took umbrage to my ownership.

    100%.

Perceived value. It's absolutely an issue with some people.

This is a funny thing and very relevant. As Australians we love having others succeed as long as they don't have to see the fruits of that hard work and success. Crazy. This is the main reason why I drive a base model Ranger at the moment and why I had to see what the New Raptor looked like before considering the purchase. Even though farmers are happy to drive $110k plus Cruisers heaven forbid I drive a car that I have given blood, sweat, and tears to afford. Luckily, throw a bullbar, spotties, and aerials on the New Raptor and it doesn't look too different from a Ranger for the untrained eye. I can't wait to get one next year.

My personal thoughts Norm are, fuck the rest of the world. You've worked hard to be where you are. If you want to drive the Porsche to work do it. You're mates will have a giggle and a quick dig. Those who genuinely have a dig obviously don't know you and so their opinion doesn't matter.

The 996 is probably my favorite era of Porsche.

The car looks sensational Norm, especially with those stunning Cargraphics wheels.

On the showing thing, I'm with Perko. It's almost 20 years old FFS. Enjoy it.

    Thanks mate.

The whole collectable Porsche thing has gone bonkers, 2-3-4-500k for the rarer air-cooled's now.

    The rest following suit.

996's used to be the ugly duckling 911 but now have a cult following.

    Such fun engaging cars.

In our space (Tech/Innovation), car status isn't really a thing unless you're driving a McLaren or Tesla Model S Plaid. What technology you have probably says more about you than what car you drive.
When it comes to cars, having something like an FPV GT would be a miss, not that I care. The turbo on the other hand seems to carry more cred. Oddly enough, owning classic cars is cool even for tech founders. That includes everything from a Datsun 1500 through toa 65 Mustang or Porsche. Today, having an EV as a company car seems to be the most appropriate choice.

Ooh nice ride mate, I love my Ford's but Porsche are a very very nice car n would certainly love one. Only car that makes me have a physical reaction n all I was doing was standing next to them. Can't imagine what it's like to drive one.
    Paint me jealous
    Enjoy it mate
