Don't forget, when there was a chip shortage, Toyota had hardly any issues because of contracts they put in years earlier. Same thing for their (non) EV strategy

So why is Toyota investing so much in hydrogen?

And why are there so many new petrol stations under construction?

And why has investment money dried up for pretty much anything "renewable"?

If govco cared about energy security, the country wouldn't be exporting gas, coal and petroleum stocks hand over fist.

No one is denying the oil cartels need to be absolved of the power they wield, however the EV narrative as presented to the world is designed to prevent genuine clean and green alternatives from coming to market.

Hahahaha. Are these questions that you think give credit to your stance? If you do, I have a bridge to sell you.

Hydrogen? Still needs services and a fuel to keep supply chains happy. Car companies hate EVs. Their profits come from servicing, spares. I've replaced nothing in my EV in 6 years and 160,000 kms. I'd have spent on 11 services in an ICE. No carbon cleans, spark plugs, gearbox oil, etc either.

Petrol will be around for a long time for the secondhand market. And no, plenty have been closing.

Money dried up? The company I work for just won $160 million for defence to go Electric. Also remember, Australia has Coal to burn. They'd rather you use coal than petrol as it's a local fuel they can control and still emits less than petrol/diesel.

They need to keep exporting it because we make nothing valuable that the world wants to buy from us. Stop exporting and our economy dies.

You were done as soon as you came to this discussion with no facts but rather filled with misinformation. I put my money where my mouth is and have tested them first hand. Not some armchair commentator.

For those that think their ICE cars will just convert to Hydrogen... Fuel cell is hydrogen with an electric drive unit that is silent which people whinge is the problem with EVs.

So many people think they'll have a V8 running on Hydrogen. So much misinformation.

I think its very early days to condem other alternatives imo, hybrid not hydrogen is the best balanced option imo for the years ahead but thats me and lets face it none here are qualified auto engineers.

Just back from the US and I'm amazed how negative they are of EV's amongst fellow Aftermarket companies and Enthusiasts.
Dealerships sure are having their issues.

I bought a hybrid to test out this theory recently. Lexus 450h. Nice car, drives well. But! It cost much more than a Model Y which is similar size (the Y has more second row and boot space) and fuel consumption is nowhere near advertised (sitting at 7-8 litres/100).

All that means to me is that it costs $14-$20 dollars per 100 kms travelled vs $1.20 per 100kms in the Y if using the grid exclusively (I don't but for argument sake let's say you don't have solar).

Hybrids make no sense if you live in the city in a home vs an EV.
