All I'll say is that the Model Y is almost exactly the same size as the Macan with similar performance but the Macan is a whopping 330kgs heavier in base trim. That goes up significantly in AWD format. Bugger that.

The weight is impacting its performance, especially with those massive torque numbers. Even the $70k Volvo XE30 in top spec trim will give it a scare with a zero-to-60-mph acceleration time of 3.4 seconds.
That all being said, the Macan will have its place and is in another league when it comes to prestige/appeal. Personally, I'd prefer a Taycan Turbo S.

We shall see where the Macan EV find its place more so the Asia market for growth hence why the release was held there first time ever.
Crazy rich asians pardon the phrase are the targets more than current Porsche dna coupe owners.
US will stay ICE at this stage for the resistance is huge from reading and many saying they'll look elsewhere if and when the time comes.
The question is talking Porsche DNA, the diehards say it is gone - a battery is a battery.
Presitge may hold its time - more so for new first time buyers.
By the way the depreciation on Taycan's is alot there, unlike the real mcoys.

The reception for the Mach E is similar amongst ICE Mustang buyers. However, the sentiment appears to be complete rejection and offense taken amongst traditional Mustang enthusiasts, from my observation. I can't tell if that is more aimed at the Mach E being an expensive SUV, or just the EV thing. The fact that it's both of these things isn't helping.
Most fail to release that the very existence of the Mach E is why Ford can, and is still developing the V8 Mustang models.
Ford said the Mach E was designed as an option for a two car household where the 1 of those cars was a ICE Mustang coupe. It meant, Mustang enthusiasts could infact have their cake and eat it. The logic made sense on paper, anyway.

Enthusiasts as we know are a small % of consumer spending.
Also niave of Ford to think Mustang devotees would be walking in to order a overpriced MachE.
IMO apart from consumers adjusting to this change point is the Gov push of it is more so on the nose to the majority possibly.
Consumers/voters don't like being pushed/forced into something.
Global Gov subsidies incentivised sales but as is occuring once that gets drawn back or cuts off sales drop.
Same applied with solar panels and other similar directives.
As we are seeing some OE's are starting to walk away from Gov policy.
Sales dropping other sides of the world due to the cold.
Interesting times.

Naming the car Mustang was genius and generated all the attention needed to put the car on the map. Second highest selling EV in the US says it all. Brilliant strategy.
If they named it Escape or anything else, it wouldn't have had even a fraction of the success nor brand recognition.

oh for sure kudos making up the numbers a very very distant #2 at 6.1% of EV sales for '23.
My point was majority of those buyers are more likely new adpators to EV than actual coupe owners.
Saw 2 on the road on my recent 2wk trip there.
