@wkd60 every brand has its woeful ownership experience you have had a bad one by the sound of it but there are many others who haven't incl me to date re JEEP.
My brother not a car lover so they are not pampered but serviced accordingly previous Laredo bought new, usual consumables and thristy as expected turned over near on 400 thou klms to update into a low k Navigator diesel, again loving his family truck after checking out a prado etc, his pref thought the jap stuff wasn't as good.
I have had a Patriot for the wife near on 12mths I can't fault it to date.
Perko good choice imo current shape looks great and wish you a good reliable ownership.

12 mths ownership with warranty... Please. Priced any parts through Chrysler yet?
Their pricing of parts is criminal. That's my issue with Jeep/Chrysler . And they continue to rip off the poor fools who buy their product.
Ill leave it at that. I've driven the new grand and it's quite a good bit of kit, no doubt. Pray to your god nothing goes wrong with it. If you're lucky Jeep will have parts for it in country and you'll only wait a week for it to get fixed. Otherwise you'll be left waiting for months like many Jeep owners. Once the warranty runs out SELL IT.
without taking the thread off track for too long please in response to your reply.
Having some fair knowledge in the parts game being involved the last 30yrs wish for me to advise the hurdles and length of time waiting on some genuine toyota or even mazda parts for family cars out of WTY and the pricing they charge as well, I'll add in hondas having owned a few of those also for the wife all out of WTY as well.
Patriot is out of WTY I'm still not concerned, I'm involved with OS sourcing and visit many factories I'm afraid you all get ripped imo knowing the costs ex factory so whats new be it JEEP or any other brand.
It just comes down to the inconveinence and bad timing then depending how your treated by the service manager or parts interpreter.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I have done a fair bit of investigation before letting the wife grab the Jeep. This is because I will be the one paying for it! I agree that with EVERY car brand there are those that turn out to be lemons. It is the risk that you take with every purchase. All you can do is do the research and make a decision based upon this.
As far as parts go ALL companies make a very good margin on them, Ford included. They have to as the margin on new vehicles are shrinking due to competition, and some dealers are finding it hard to attract customers back for servicing (will not open that particular can of worms). I am aware of some of the parts cost and some of the major service charges coming up. These were explained to my wife who will be paying for that part and she accepts that.
In the case of the Jeep it has improved immensely with the new model. I have spoken to a large number of current owners across a wide range of uses. This comes from families to farmers and to reps who cover as many km's as I do in my Hilux (approx 75000 km's per year). 95% of them were very happy with the vehicle. It has picked up a number of awards so hopefully the odds are in our favour. The Territory has been a great vehicle with its fair share of ups and downs (and expensive parts). Just couldn't go back to it because the new model is really a facelift with a diesel motor. This ultimately wasn't enough for my wife. Won't stop me modding the XR8 and grabbing a new Ranger later!

Having just spent some time in a new Terry, a mighty impressive car I must say, the Jeep must be good to tempt you. That said, i understand some of your motivation, as our last purchase was a c250 as the wife didn't want another car the same. And at that time a TT Ghia was exactly the same car. Sadly the TT was in many (most) ways a better car.
The SRT version looks awesome. I haven't seen the others up close.
The problem with society today, is that nobody drinks from the skulls of their enemies anymore.
I like those JEEP ads - clever![]()

I actually prefer the JEEP looks wise to the Territory with its more muscler, sculptured body shape. But as Tony pointed out I have been a few Titanium Terriorty's recently and was very impressed with the fit, finish, ride and overall quality. In my eyes it was a quantum shift from the original version launched in 2005-6. The biggest issues I have with them, and many other SUV's on the market today is they lack personality. You can't say that about the JEEP.
Agree Col on the personality or presence imo - upon the purchase thought you beauty at least I'll be happy being in the drivers seat they have a tuff look whereas the usual jap suv etcetc is soft and all too common.....IF it cause's me a problem fine I'll get it fixed.

Yes the I bought a Jeep has started. I then add "No, my wife chose a Jeep. I am paying for it!". The SRT is very, very nice and the rest of the range is very good. I would have preferred the Territory but hopefully when its time to trade the Jeep a Ford alternative will be around.
