    Trinity 5.8

This is old but a great read with some very interesting facts, not least, of course, that it's the most powerful production V8 on earth.

There's an answer there to why Ford Au doesn't use this in a Falcon.

We may hear more about (an iteration of) this motor in the near future...

    No worries Phil.

The spray bore tech... turns out these block are cast in Germany... You'd be stuffed if you damaged the cylinders - only way of fixing that is buying a new block.

Mhm this is what the LSx engines have been using for years. Give me sleeves any day.

Must be something else because Ford is pioneering it and has it patented. Nissan uses it under license from Ford for their GTR.

Thanks for posting that article Youssef, the 5.8 looks like a 5.4 until you look at all the changes made,
you know, I wonder about these "super mods" and whatever happened to the little 5.0 Cammer......
To me that little engine had so much postential with big port heads, or was that inspiration for the Coyote?

I think the Cammer and other engines of the Mod family that ended up in the Ford Motorsport catalogue represented the "wish list" of things the designers and race engineers had wanted to do with the Modular engines for years. But these of course were crate/race engines not destined for fitment to regular production cars. Certainly the lessons learned from these developments helped pave the way for Ford to work out exactly what they wanted for the Coyote. There's a family tree right there, and the pedigree is strong.

I'm really scratching my head over some of the things, John. In good time all will be revealed when or if I get a better understanding of what it all means.

Some of you may remember an article by drivel I think it was, that quoted Ford's Euro engine guru as saying Ford US will no longer invest in their V8s. I can't remember the guy's name.. Pic.. Pino.. Picone.. ah, yes, Pinocchio.

Plasma Transfer Arc welding, very high tech, designed to transfer minute amounts of hardfacing
or bore liner material, it's a different technique to conventional thermal spray technique that GM uses..

Just reading that is expensive, lol. Luckily they're building 5000 of these a year, or was the article referring to the Condor powered Shelby? This would sell more. Goes to show how capabilities increase when there's volume involved.
