Sad thing is that you cant watch a news program now without the obligatory,
"Why are we giving taxpayer money to American car companies who build cars that no one wants to buy?"

This conservative rhetoric to ordinary people that Ford and Holden are ripping off taxpayers has got to stop,
it saddens me that a once "Can do" country is changing into a "Don't bother - just import it" country of underachievers.

John you have just provided me with future signature material.

"Can do country is changing into a Don't bother"
History is a statement, the future is a question.

its such a simplistic view and yet it gets used because it appeals to the masses. 'taxpayer dollars' is a phrase we hear way to much of, in many industries. according to big bob, for every $ of taxpayer money, they gave back $6, either through investment or through taxes. what other industry gives the govt that kind of return? wouldn't be too many.

i have to pay tax regardless. i don't get to choose where that money goes. people carry on like the govt is spending their money, but they aren't. they are spending govt money. it comes from taxes but thats just a part of having an economy.

fair enough, its true that income tax will still be paid whether the worker works at ford or elsewhere, so its not like that side of the revenue will totally dry up, but some of it will. i doubt 100% of the workers will find employment beyond ford closure, and many may be out of work for many days/months etc. thats revenue the govt is no longer getting, but still people carry on like supporting the auto industry isn't profitable for the govt.

Because we modicoddle plodders and reward mediocrity with welfare handouts and wages that are hard to sustain...

To me everyone who spends time on forums, time to facilitate and advance fords name and product in the community is to be commended against the efforts of people like Joshua. Yes he is not directly responsible for this but he is equally irresponsible. His voice is strong, heard loudest where efforts by normal people found in car clubs, forums social media outlets, just not enough. People didn't need to buy product to advance our position, we just needed perspective truth and to find voice to call for reason. To spread the word. The good fight needed to occur and I think we had some the biggest contributers right here in our little corner of the media

I agree Ian, there are some very intelligent, rational thinkers on this forum, certain people have proved more than a match for some of our "self proclaimed motoring experts" that pollute the media, with their half arsed, fictional road tests & biased reporting of Ford Australia. Care to respond anyone from News Limited?
