Well I have a number of buyers for F6 now looking for what they consider to be the perfect embodiment of the Falcon.

I have to say personally I am changing my position too, but i fear you are right. I could see prodrive sending the F6 off not real confident about Ford.

Its really just a tune as the gt drive line would carry that expense.
The problem is the different turbos between engines.
    Its those pesky numbers again.

The F6 is a victim of being stood still for too long and very agressive pricing for XR6.

I could see a market for a new look F6 of a limited run as a structured way of closing out Falcon and I think they would sell.

A rspec F6 in Ute and sedan I think could work. Right now people dont know if they should be ordering a FG2 F6 or waiting and I dont think thats fair considering future product has been revealed as in we know what we wint have. Its hard to tell loyalists that Ford doesnt talk about future cars when the biggest part of the future is already known.

On the other hand Ford perhaps would be justified in saying our assumptions about model ratification is unfounded
History is a statement, the future is a question.

On the other hand, is the F6 basically a GT with a different heartbeat? Let's face it the rest of the gear is the same apart from badges and the rear spoiler. So it shouldn't be that hard, but with Ford, anything is possible.

Very true. It is only the engine and trim levels. It would be nice to see it sent off with a final version, but I really don't think they will do it. I would love to own one with a nice 'factory tune' with 350-360fwkw and a DSG g/box with paddle shift. That with the R-spec suspension and wider rubber would be an ultimate machine. I would even think about trading the ute in on a sedan if it came with those options. One major thing for me is that the ute holds sentimental value because of some friends that are/were Ford and FPV employees that helped with photos of the build and a selected build number that I will never get again.

I think one of the biggest killers is the cost of calibrating dcs and traction control. That software side can run into millions. Holden didnt give VF any power increases, only HSV did so its hard to see an arguement to justify more power. Greater efficiency yes. Some employees seem to leak some stuff about XR6T, so it seems there will be a turbo car. Normally there might be some merit to expect the F6 engine tune to become the new XR6, but in FG ford went a different way to prodrive. I dont think Ford would adopt the prodrive version and i am sure they would be keen to ratify the turbo versions down to one. In my mind FPV need the F6 to justify the FPV brand purchase. If GS is to revert to XR8 like many expect one car under the brand umbrella doesnt make a lot of sense.

Ian I have a sneaking suspicion the FPV brand won't continue with the 2014 model and any Falcon GT (if there is one) will wear a Ford badge. "Moving Forward" from 2016 with a Mustang V8 and still having the FPV brand hanging around will look a bit untidy. Killing off the brand with a model refresh (like they did with the BA) is a cheap and easy way out of the branding conundrum. And you're right, it makes sense from an economics and development perspective to rationalise the I6 turbo down to one engine. How great it would be if that one engine was the F6's 310kw motor...

I reckon you are probably right but they would be dumb. Mustang can be sold under the FPV brand. The old rules are gone.

Given what was said at the launch of the Ford GT if the decision has been made now its the biggest backflip since krudd.

The FPV brand brings continuity to all things Ford performance in this country. A brand like.SVT is useless.

When Tickford shifted to FPV the research told them that an acronym that contained the word special was definately not desirable. For one HSV is already there. They tested FSV.

Take out vehicle from both and you ate left with special team v Ford performance.

I am no marketing person but this is what actually happened or an insight into how Tickford and Ford approached the name change.

SVT is just stupid. Its not brand specific and has no value or link in thia country. Ford have enough to do with out completely reinventing the wheel. The SVT product can be rebranded as FPV for this country giving them linage and continuity with some of the greatest products this country has seen.

Ford don't sell vehicles under the SVT brand though, so I don't see why that would be applied here or should be compared to FPV. SVT has never been a brand like FTE or FPV, they've always still been Ford Mustangs. Only the Shelby's from what I've seen have been comparable in having a different name.

Thats why i said mustang could be sold under FPV. Its not a question of the specifics of sale but the ideal of a enhancement arm that has been a traditional feature of both Holden and Ford

Its not hard at all but its more cost which is the issue. When you are losing money on each vehicle...

As long as they then also fitted the "powered" up XR6T with decent brakes instead of the weak wobbly shit they currently fit to it and the GS.
