Lastest news on our facebook page comes to us on the V8 supercar engines

The V8 Super Car rules on the Car of the Future to be introduced from 2013 is now raising public comments on engine choice, sparked by Nissan's recent sign up. Reportedly new engines are unlikely to be introduced during the phase in due high changeover cost to the Car of the Future chassis. Ford Performance Racing technical director Campbell Little says that there are several appealing engine options on both sides of the fence.
Campbell Little says “The Coyote engine that is currently in the FPV range is a fantastic little V8, and has all the hallmarks of being a good race engine. I’d love to put one of them in our cars”.
“The bottom end isn’t that much different than the ‘Cammer’ engine that’s raced in FIA GT1 and Grand Am, which you can buy direct from Roush Yates for less than what our current engines cost us.
This is a powerful endorsement on our US sourced, Aussie boosted V8 supplied standard in our current FPV’s.

That's a pretty strong endorsement on the capability of the FPV engine from Campbell.

No they aren't but there is another article that says a review by Holden or ford would be welcomed. I suspect Campbell was asked this question because if Nissans impending introduction. Now personally apart from echoing Colville's words I think an engine that closer resembles what the manufacture has to offer would definitely go a long way to maintaining brand DNA but it won't be for season 2013.

Possibly post 2016/7... but the logic in me just cant see them moving past the current engines while they have such a tight parity system in place and the R+D is virtually $0 now on the current engines V a completely clean sheet for a Coyote.

Romantics aside its all about costs.

It would be nice to see them adopt something closer to a "factory" production engine however that would possibly further alienate them from other manufacturers like Toyota...

That is true , it would be a nightmare when the word "parity" is mentioned!.
