That would be a nice little set up for a project car, perhaps a certain GT3 spec GT that is on the boil at the moment? I would hate to think of the cost though, definitely not for the "budget" project.

hmmm.... not much of a website, but if the boys want to get hold of them this is all they need...

Well, Auto Action had last week as the cover story how V8 Supercars could be moving towards these motors. It was saying a current spec V8SC engine costs $150k to build as it uses all bespoke, specially cast blocks etc. Just like what has been mentioned in this thread.
Both the GMH and Ford and their associated motorsport managers believe that the current engines are expensive and irrelevant to their current products. Ford were suggesting that the Coyote being developed by Innovate Race Engines could indeed form the basis for the COTF Falcon. In the process saving some $130kThe problem is that the category managers aren't really helping clarify the rules, essentially asking the teams to put forward an engine proposal and then it will be 'paritied'.
Really, it seems that with Kelly Racing to be Nissan Motorsport next season and them running a race derived DOHC engine, they will be the guinea pigs. But, they could soon be at a real competitive advantage with it's newer architecture potentially being more fuel efficient, durable and more powerful.
The Coyote engine is kicking butt in the V8 Utes despite it being 5.0L versus 6.0L in the GMHolden. The Coyote has MUMBO!
Phillyc, "Paritied" is the key word here for engines, they will all be dyno'd and made to conform to identical HP/Torque and delivery specs.
The thing we need to keep remembering is they will not allow ANY mechanical advantage to exist.
Simply there will be no advantage for choosing 1 engine over another other than build costs. Honestly i cant see a race ready Coyote costing less than the current OHV engines given the significant extra number of parts and virtually zero R+D to date.

Who knows what the actual capacity is of this?

Look at those headers glow!
I can think of a nice black car that either of those engines would fit in![]()
