Hi Guys,
I've had my BA MKII GT-P for almost 2 years now and its a great toy to have, one which I plan to hold on to at this stage.
However in the recent months, the uselessness of the rear end in these cars is making me think twice about how much I enjoy them. Mine at the moment needs a complete overhaul and its barely done 15,000km since the last overhaul, including bushes, oil and replacement of any nuts and bolts that needed it, but particularly the bushes.
My main question to the forum is, have you done anything (or know of anything that has been done) to the rear end that might help create a decent amount of longevity in the rear end, and by longevity I mean withstand a minimum of 20,000km of sprinted driving?
I fear there is no real, solid foundation of an answer to this quandary. There are few schools of thought to answer it, some along the lines of 'get over it and factor in bush changes every 15,000km' and 'weld the hell out of the sub frame, fabricate bump stops around the differential to stop its movement' etc.
I've got a few idea's up my sleeve, but I also believe there's always something be learnt by listening, thus; I'm all ears...
Gab.
