Something I read on an F1 blog which IMO is 100% spot on:

Something often said of banned developments in F1, is that once understood no solution can be unlearnt. So while the FIA fights to ban technologies that they feel aren’t suited to F1, the teams will always try to apply that solution in a different way.
Someone is always going to have an advantage when there isn't a control parity rule. Whilst I think it is very early days, Mclaren are clearly further ahead with development and understanding of the 2012 car. Malaysia will be an interesting test. Regardless I'm enjoying F1 2012.

very true. the FIA have already said the 'super drs' on the mercs is legal but there is still appeals and whatnot going on, so if that is deemed 100% legal, then the others will work to implement that on their cars. word has it mclaren are already on the way to having a system ready to go.

i think its good for F1. its always been about development and new innovations. the tightening of the regulations is only to stop the big teams opening up a massive gap to the poorer teams, which is ok to a point but i don't like the way it is almost becoming a parity series.

i wonder if any teams will change their stepped nose to a more conventional one like mclaren.

Spot on prydey - nearly every season 1 team seems to get the upper hand upon the first race, especially after new rule changes, the others in turn protest and so you would to give you more time to catch up LOL........
Heck only 1 race but at least we didn't have like RB the last 2yrs out and out the better car, Darth Vader team have done well (thank god it was Button) and as you mention Merc Ferrari arn't far behind and Lotus are up there compared to last season.
Its looking good and next race will give a better picture in general of the field.
