    door trims

How do the door trims come off on a Au wagon? I know there are some screws to take out, but is there anything else that comes off before that?

All the fixings, door handle, armrest, window winder, the screws of course and behind the door trim there are these plastic plugs that are locked into corresponding holes in the door. Run your fingers behind the door trim and un-pop each plug one by one. Then lift the door trim off (upwards) at the top where it meets the window.

For driver's door ... one philips head at top rear at the edge return. Two philips heads at the bottom behind plastic plugs/covers.

Prise the power window switch panel up and swing away to unplug the wiring. Look under and see the philips head screw - remove it (might be two can't remember now).

Prise the top and then bottom edges of the door release handle backing panel out and then slide forwards and out from behind the handle. See the 6mm hex head bolt (10mm AF socket) - undo.

Remove the circular blanking plug from forward upper area under power mirror control - just prise out with flat blade screwdriver. Behind this is another 10mm AF hex head bolt to remove.

Pull vigourously on the snipper button - straight upwards - to release it.

Facing the door trim grab it securely with both hands halfway down the forward side and rearward side and give a really firm tug - it will come away directly towards you - careful not to fall over backwards! Also be careful not to pull it too far from the door because the power mirror control is still connected. Once you can get the trim away from the door you have to release the multiplug from the mirror control.

The other doors are easy because no snipper and no power mirror switch, otherwise same procedure exactly.

Replacing is reverse naturally ... EXCEPT to replace the snipper button you have to get a very small screwdriver and prise the coloured insert out of the button. It comes out about 10mm/15mm or thereabouts. If you don't do this the button won't go all the way back down when you push it back on.

The reason I'm asking is, I'm replacing the front speakers on my AU wagon and was told that the whole door trim has to come off, or can I just take the speaker grill out?
