Hi Everyone,

I figured I would start a thread where anyone can jump in and ask a question. Remember there is no such thing as a stupid question!

Questions could include, "why is the leather on my couch softer than in my car?" or, "What is the science behind airbags in seats?" Or, "How do I tell the difference between leather and vinyl"

I am not afraid to tell you if I simply don't know, however instead of feeding you BS I will en devour to research and return with an educated answer!

I have beige leather in my golf and even if I clean it weekly with a damp chamois after washing the car, it is getting darker and darker.

What is the best way of cleaning and protecting the lighter shades of leather seats?

Great question.

The simple fact is lighter colour leather is a pain in the bum to keep clean! ha ha however it rewards you time and time again if you look after it.

I like a 2 step process, where you have a cleaner/shampoo and then the moisturiser/conditioner.

The cleaner lifts the contaminants (which could be dirt, grime, spilt drinks, human oils and sweat) from the leather. Once this is cleaned you can then apply the conditioner. The conditioner will help seal up the leather again to resist the dirt and grime etc.

However! Do not use harsh products. Leather already has a "clear" coat from new and harsh products can strip that away and cause accelerated deterioration.

I have used Autoglym leather cleaner, and autoglym leather conditioner on the seats, but not recently.

How often do you recommend I do the seats? I knew the beige seats were going to be a labour of love, so I'm not worried about the work they need to keep them tip top.

You obviously know the Tickford cloth stich logos on the front leather seats - talking TSeries AU, what is the recommended way to bring them back looking clean ?

Then - treating old leather seats in the car - same as what you recommend Paxton ?

Looking at getting new Falcon next year with leather. So a couple of questions. What sort of quality is the leather? Most importantly, I am not keen on putting seat covers on, what preparation products should I be using straight away to keep it clean and in the best condition? Will be getting the paint done straight away and so hoping to look after the leather straight away as well.

I spent ages replying in detail and honestly I went into the unknown truth of manufacturer leather. And then I accidentally deleted it!

From day 1 use a 2 step cleaner and conditioner. Use this every month - 6 weeks or when needed.

Never never never ever ever ever use Armour all or anything like that. Ever.

That will ensure your trim will look the best out of all the factory leather cars.
