I bought the car last june and it had warranty till october.. The diff bushes had been changed then a month later they said they were broken again..OK. So they did all of them but I had never looked for myself. After a few weeks the back end was noisy again...I dont drive the car hard and assumed the bushes were shagged again. Lately the clunking has gotten very bad and I have been thinking a balljoint or something silly like that.
Today I got the courage to give the lsd diff oil change and inspect the diff bushes..well the main one was perfect and the others showed no sign of problems. I found the plug to pump oil back in on the side of my sedan facing the drivers side.It was like a allen key type bolt. The drain plug was at the bottom and my attempts to remove it showed signs of the beggining of burring the 15mm bolt so I stopped.
It miffed me that it didnt come off so instead I jacked it up higher overfilling the diff with 1 litre of fresh oil. Then put the drain plug in to stop the excess oil from coming out. I then proceeded to drive the car with overfilled diff for 15 minutes then went home jacked up the back end removed the bolt and the fluid gushed out dark grey. To allow more filth to come out I lowered the jack to ground level and allowed the oil to drain out of the filler hole. Once stopped I grabbed the second 1 litre bottle and my hand pump to overfull again. Plugged the hole drove again and was surprised that 99 percent of clunks and noises dissappeared. I used to get big clunks putting the car in reverse or drive but now it seems to quietly engage with no clunking...Drained the excess oil onground level which is the correct level for the diff then pur the plug in finally and it drives so much better and quieter..
Posted my expereince because Im blown away by the difference of this..cheers
