I know this is late but i just put a k&n in with my oil change at the weekend with no problems. I had a Ryco Z516 in before an i choose not to replace with the same after reading threads on Ryco oil filters falling apart inside, seals cracking etc.

Arrived next day, but no k&n 'bling' sticker like you normaly get :P

Interesting, and way less than I paid. It's a shame that nobody has listed a PureOne filter on eBay, as I'd jump back to them in a heartbeat, even though my EF is still quiet as a nut with the K&N filter.

For the BF, I've just stuck with the factory Motorcraft Filter, and it seems happy enough. I'll see how it goes - I'm going to take advantage of Ford's fixed price servicing for the next service, however.

I like to do all my servicing myself, that way i know its been done properly, and i would have thought it was cheaper too.

How much is a general service at Ford, Oil and filters? Does it cover anything else?

Cost me $120 to do oil 2x 5litre fully synthetic (but i have approx 3litre left for nxt change) and oil filter and then $15 for a cleaning kit to do my KnN air filter.

Fuel filter and spark plugs next

    At parents workshop (Non-ford)
I think a general service for a falcon would be around NZ$180-NZ$200.

    Oil
Ryco Filter (We had no problems with them :S)
    Fill Washer Bottle
Grease U-Joint nipples (Don't think standard U-Joints have them but some like mine have been replaced with Toyo ones)
    Tyre Pressures
Radiator Fluid Check (Also check antifrezze component in it using this thingy ma-jig)
    All other engine fluids checked
    Wiper blades checked

Theres other stuff but allot of it besides Oil, Filter, Greasing U-joints is mainly just because allot of people don't have any idea about their cars let allone what tyre pressures should be set at. I tell some people they have 12PSI in their tyres and they ask what does that mean!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

However had a ford territory towed in that had a smashed the plastic sump on transmission as it had driven over big rock.
So pretty much needed new valve body for it as it had just clipped it. Rung up ford they quoted 14K for brand new vavle body or 9K for brand new transmission (facepalm). They ended up finding a 2nd hand one with 40000km on it, same as the vehicle with smashed sump. I think they wanted around 6-7K so we got that and Had it all fitted up in no time. The point of the story was the oil was special oil and was around $700 cost price to fill the ZF transmission up!!

Pax - Puro brand is a rippa product and a longlong time US market leader but sadly our country just isn't big enough in distribution for wholesalers/companys to carry more than say 2 brands, you know the usual Premium and Good option for the the consumer in saying that 1 National Distributer is trying to get it back into the Reseller network right now.
Other than that believe me the current Motorcraft/Ryco/Cooper brands do the job very well !

So what is wrong with Ryco filters ? I worked as a mechanic for several years but that was in the 90s lol and we only ever used Ryco and I have always used Ryco on my cars and still do, never had a problem. Just curious what the apparent problems are please ?

They have a new filter with a better filter medium that has sparked my interest.

Its filter media the paper is called.

JDR, no problem with Rycos - whenever there is a early detection of a problem from the field its rectified pretty quick.
Just like any good brand, there can always be a manufacturing fault at times.
