change ba xr8 steering column

hi im peter
my ignition barrel has broken on my ba xr8 mk 11 no resistence either way wen turned and all reds come on dash but wont start
i realise i have to change the steering columnn and was wondering if this is a straight forward job and if any one can give me some advice on how to do it please

No, you do not have to change the steering column. You can strip down the barrel and put it back together re-crimping the base of the barrel again.
When you pull it down, very carefully.... reassemble in reverse order with some grease to lubricate and re-crimp using a punch in three places. Hit the punch gently as it is all pretty soft.
