Brother in Law got his Gayarado 7 bogged in a dune set about 5 mins out of town, no way in hell I was going to try and pull him out with the Tez (would have been two bogged cars instead of one) but eventually got it out with some digging and improvised traction aids. No factory diff locker, and for 500nm it seemed awfully sluggish? Pretty bland inside too

Thanks Fellas, Dash she's looking ok, I'm inspired now to set her up a bit more since this trip. (by the way anyone see pics of the new BT50 front end ? anything would have been an improvement but its the best front once released imo)
LOL RW, nothing worse than getting bogged in soft sand ! serves bro inlaw right getting that fugly Daewoo bloody hard work digging out etc been there done that with the wife's suedo 4x4 Patriot but my newbiness got me into that position.
Like you mention powa/torque - the D4 did the job better than I expected but I got talking with other owners who were around when getting ready for the beach letting tyres down etc, most have their D4's chipped, they feel more confident not getting bogged in soft sand etc, just makes sure to give that added bit of powa to drive through when things get heavier, I don't know, after having tuned my hipo cars etc you just keep having to go back and get re tuned or this or that, I've got sick of stuffing around like that.

I love your Hilux Maurie. But even if I did have one (the Ranger is 2WD Hi Rider) I dont think I could bring myself to drive it offroad. Years of dodging shit in low XR8's has conditioned me.

Having said that the Ranga gets 99.9% of places I have to go. It's been bogged once - went to do a u turn at a tiny town just off the GOR. Thought it was grass, well the toop bit was, it was the 400mm of mud under the grass that got me. Bogged to the axles in a matter of seconds. Thankfully a bloke in a PX pulled me out, had a good laugh and off we went. Geez I wouldn't have been happy if it was my front nature strip that I did it to.

Aust, believe me it takes time to build up mentally to take the truck offroad lol...since a kid i treasure my cars and offroad stretchs my boundaries but i got it for its practability - my 2 younger ones love the adventure times.
Mind you i do enjoy getting her cleaned up after the mess ! But damn takes a long time !!!!
