The story I heard (right or wrong) the car was sitting @ red light, 2 cars back from the intersection during heavy rain. The owner heard the squeal of tyres, then got shunted into the car in front. Sad way for an EL GT to be "taken out".

That could be partly true Greg. Not sure about it hitting a car in front though as the engine bay was full of crushed bricks and the left front wheel is also imbedded with concrete.

I ended up buying the wheels from the wrecked EL GT a little while ago. Gave them a good clean and stripped the tyres off them, they've been re-sprayed at some point in their life in the wrong colour. It's a shame because three of them are absolutely mint, only the one off the front left is damaged from the accident. So all four will be stripped, re-painted and fitted with a new set of tyres, just gotta decide between Brigestone Adrenalin's and Yokohama Advan Sport's. Then the original rims and Yokohama A510's can be retired.

Here's the rims after a strip and clean

You can see the colour difference on the damaged rim

One of the rims even had the chrome valve

And a couple of new pics of the GT

Biante have released sneak peek pictures of what could be an EL GT 1:18 model.

Early days yet guys, but we may have had a win, mind you they only released pictures of the air duct on the bonnet.

Very nice indeed. Got a soft spot for EL GTs. One day I will have one in my garage.

Biante have informed me the first painted model EL GT, should be here in 3 months. They had some issue's with the prototype model, that is now being rectified.
Interest in the model is strong, they have had some overseas enquiries.
