    XY GT Phase 3

Bathurst spec (3.25 diff ratio) Phase 3 was rev limited to 228kph
0-100 in about 6.2 seconds (diff dependent)
Standing 400m 14.1 seconds, 3.25 rear end. (depending on which gearbox and diff you ordered, it had 3.5 and 3.9 too)

Not withstanding the massive advancements in handling, braking and tyre technology the old H3 certainly hauled arse in a straight line, even by todays standards it would frighten a Redline.
or, in other words there was no comparison.

That's if you only consider acceleration as the sole judge of performance.

While outright power may not as advanced too much until the last decade or so, safety handling and comfort have improved immeasurably.

Completely agree, but it puts into context just how fast these cars were in the 70's and they are performance vehicles so its not unfair to focus on performance.

The BA GT was the first Falcon to actually better the H3's time over the 1/4.

yeeesss......but its a race breed Falcon GT. At the end of day if you are not judging a GT by it performance credentials then you might as well not bother with one at all.

I thought it was John Bowe in a T3 that was the first to beat it. Didn't he do a 13.9 or 14 flat for a magazine. It will have to do a search through the book case.

Either way, the Phase 3 was / is a remarkable car. To drive one is on my bucket list.

Not sure I am a member of that page Greg, but for sure it can be posted anywhere.

To put it into perspective further. In 1971 a Pro Stock car was good for about 12.0. Although back then a Pro Stocker was more stock and less Pro than now.
The problem with society today, is that nobody drinks from the skulls of their enemies anymore.
