    Engine code ?

Ok guy's I have found a 302 Cleveland with the following engine codes, can someone please follow up my understanding's.

    D2 AE CA
    2G6

    Is this 6th July 1972 ?, do you read it = YR/Month/Day ?.

Also the engine number is stamped on the block,
    JG 35 MS *****K.
So this mean's it is Australian/Broadmeadows (JG), Fairmont wagon (35), 1972/Nov (MS), and a V8 produced vehicle (K).

I need to find out about the block because a mate stumbled across it while walking in the bush, but I am a little unweary that it could be stolen, now if it is I would like to return it but if not I will rebuild if it is ok as I wanted a 302/351 Clevo.

How would I find out for sure as I don't want any drama's with this block, as like I said it is just something that we found dumped in the bush.

The easiest way to find out whether it's stolen is take the engine number to your local registry and get them to run it in their system - it will come up straight away including last registered owner details.

No prize for guessing what car they were referring to ... OWN THE ROAD ...

Thank's mate, I thought it was that, but why would the car's numbers that are stamped on the side say 1972 Nov ?
