    Auto lights dash sensor question.

Just a quick question regarding the sensor that controls the auto lights on top of the dash, in the centre of the car. Does it send info to anything else? I'm thinking of colouring it in with a texta (but still transparent) or putting some tinted tape over it to give me more scope with the adjustability of the auto lights. i have it set to come on at the earliest and turn off at the latest setting but i'd like to be able to extend that zone as i feel there are times when they don't come on soon enough and turn off too soon.

if i alter the transparency of the sensor, will that have any impact on any other systems??

I know the sensor goes to the BEM. But then info from the sensor does end up at in the climate system.

How it effects the a/c if it constantly thinks its dark I cannot answer.

But maybe if your going to do it, do it in a way that you can reverse it...or work out how much it will cost to replace the sensor (think they're fairly cheap anyway).

I would be just jamming a rag over it to see if it works. You may have trouble getting the glue off the dash pad if the sun bakes it on.

A rag will just force the lights to stay on the whole time.
