Lol, you're not in the au scene damo, these cars have garnered an almost cult like following. 10k, while on the hi side, is there or thereabouts for a really good clean optioned up example.
Mate sold his s2 200 manual for 9k 12 months or so ago. While there's plenty of cheap ones around, the really good ones still command good money.

    I have a simple question....

If you love it so much why are you selling it?

If all it is worth is $10k if you are lucky then just de-register it and stick it on blocks in a shed with a cover over it.
After all that is why there are low km good condition X and E series cars popping up occasionally.

I have often thought about doing just that as well, like I said I am in no rush and if I don’t find a person as such then it might just work out that way to do just that, but I would still like to find a person that might want it.

I once sold a manual orange HG GTS Monaro for $500 because I had nowhere to store it. Probably was not such a good idea looking back (n.b. this was in 1981 and that was about what they were selling for).

Polyal has his T2 TE50 for sale at $11K and there is a T1 TE50 for around the same price as well.

So why would you pay $10K for the XR8 thats a series II?

186S 4 speed manual. There were GT & GS falcons for that same ballpark price back then.
The big money was for panelvans.

There was no internet in 1981 nor was there national television networks and newspapers were local.
What was happening in Victoria had no impact on up here. The revocation of death duties had not yet started the parasite invasion and caravans were still a pain to drag 2000km over the crap single lane highways.
Panelvans were the most popular cars by far, everyone I knew had one or if they could not afford one had a station wagon with curtains on the windows.
To drive a sedan of any type then was like driving a camry now, boring.....

I did know one person who collected Falcon GTs, he had 5 of them. I know he only paid $1000 for the XT 302 one because I know the person he bought it off.

I only know what I saw while I was buying and selling cars in the late 70s/early 80s. Maybe all the GTHOs were sent down to Melbourne because it was a "sucker market".....

I bought the Monaro in 1980 for $500 and was very happy to sell it again in 1981 for what I paid for it.
Come to think of it I do remember a green 327 HK Monaro sitting in a shed at the motel we stayed in for work at Gin Gin. The owner wanted something like $2500 for it and it had been for sale for over a year.
Maybe he had heard the Melbourne prices and had expected the same.

For starters his is a ’00 model, mine is a ’01 model, so a younger vehicle, both are similar in engine (200 kw).
His has almost 200 thou on it and numerous owners, mine is a one owner with 67 thou on it, His steering wheel has been re furbished in the past due to wear and tear, the drivers leather seat resembles the kms travelled, mine although not leather is like brand new as is the Momo steering wheel, these are just a few little things that would stand out when comparing two different car’s with their condition and usage being a major factor.

I mean no disrespect to his car, it is a nice vehicle but if they were to stand side by side and I were a buyer of an AU Falcon I know which one I would be choosing.

Not all people want a T series Falcon, there are those that prefer the XR brand , my self being one of them.
I love the T-series car’s but I prefer the quad light XR myself.

Why would someone buy a AUII XR8 when there is a same price AU11 TE50, well why would someone buy a FPV FG GT when an FGX XR8 is the same, this is something you seem vague about.
