If the hype surrounding Ford’s new Focus RS hot hatch is anything to go by, the carmaker may finally be convinced that a Fiesta RS should follow.
And it may already be in the pipeline, with reports out of Europe suggesting the baby RS will arrive in time for the Fiesta’s 40th anniversary in 2017.
Germany’s Autobild reports that the Fiesta RS will be powered by a 1.6 litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine producing up to 183kW.
That’s the same 1.6 litre four-pot that powers the current Fiesta ST, with power boosted 36kW for the hotter RS.
While a Fiesta, um, fiesta in 2017 seems like a logical move for Ford, it’s the ST that may stand in the way of an RS model being part of the celebrations.
