Given they still haven't produced any evidence why would you?

They still haven't proven anything, it's all guilty till you can prove you're innocent.

Had this been a civil or criminal matter it wouldn't have even made it into a court room.

Is taking a banned substance (which is probably only illegal on a sports field) worse than rape?

If you look at the media stories on it then yes.

    It would appear so.

Just on this any of us can go buy any of the alleged substances they're talking about, and more off the shelf and freely and legally consume them.

    Here's just one place:

    https://www.peptideclinics.com.au/

Many preworkout supplements, cough and cold medicines etc are all WADA/ASADA banned but freely used by most of us.

I've done some ASADA workshops due to my involvement with Basketball and the list of prohibited substances is extremely broad. You really need to check anything manufactured before using it now to make sure it doesn't contain a banned substance.

Ask Ahmed Saad, he got done for taking an off the shelf recovery drink.

It will only apply to you if you participate at a level and sport governed by ASADA.

In terms of the impact peptides have V something like Growth Hormone or Anabolic Steroids, its like comparing a Focus with a Ferrari....

If the AFL wanted to they could tell WADA to go get stuffed.

Its not like the AFL is an international sport with World Champs and Olympics, we only comply for administrative purposes but ASADA is fucking useless.

Agree 100%, and im fed up with it, but ask yourself this.

If it was you in their position and you were absolutely of the belief you've not only not taken PED's but not done anything wrong would you want to defend your name, protect your income?

At the end of the day its about these guys lives, incomes, integrity and reputations. It has lifetime implications.

If it was me id be fighting tooth and nail to defend my income and reputation if i was confident id done nothing wrong.

Remember, WADA had absolutely no more evidence that the AFL tribunal or ASADA did, who both found them not guilty.

    So what's different now?

Simply the interpretation of Burden of proof, its on the players to prove innocence not WADA to prove guilt.

I blame it on the AFL, the club and Hird, they should have manned up early, taken the punishment like Cronulla did, and it would be all over ,and no one would have thought badly of the players

    4 points:

    1) Why would you plead guilty if you're not?

    2) Irrespective of 1) Hird has been punished severely for his part.

    3) Irrespective of 1) Essendon have also been punished severely for their part.

    4) Had Hird and the Club pleaded guilty the players would AUTOMATICALLY have been found guilty and be sitting out 2 years.

The players would be no better off regardless of what Hird or the Club did.

I know its a freaking mess but its a freaking mess because of the incompetence of the AFL, ASADA and now WADA to work with facts and evidence.

but would they have stood out 2 years, in the NRL the Crunalla players never had to sit out very long at all. It was all done with very little fuss compared to this
and maybe even Hird might still be coaching
