The Ute started life as an ’04 BAII RTV I6. The RTV is handy for power modifications as it has the V8 radiator, the V8 transmission and M86 Diff.

So a few years ago I was doodling round in my mind some options and came up with a Centri S/C, namely a Raptor V. Raptor are located in Mackay up the Coast in Queensland, so location is handy, further, the kit supplied is user friendly. It just requires enough knowledge to know how to change plugs, the fuel regulator and the MAP sensor. Other than that the kit just bolts on, consisting of an adaptor plate, an oversized idler pulley for the belt drive and the total removal of the existing air box. The major difference with the Raptor V is you don’t have to be concerned with oiling as the S/C bearings are ceramic and air-cooled. This saves considerable work at installation.
The Ute was prepared by the addition of a 200cpsi 3 inch -5inch- 3inch cat and a length of 3inch pipe to replace the 2 ˝ left in place when an XR8 Ute exhaust had been added previously. This was coupled up to the Pacemaker 4490 extractors installed.
A tune was loaded into my existing X-Cal tuner and the installation went ahead ably assisted by my son, “Misery Gutz’. A couple of hours and the screamer is fired up and idles away successfully. At one stage of the Job Raptor assisted the job by phone, on a Saturday too.
Moving on the Car is off down to Elite Automotive, in Archerfield where the existing injectors are tossed in the parts bin and replaced by a set of 42lb Bosch Racing injectors. Tim works on the tune and in side an hour or two I’m told the jobs done and handed a Dyno Sheet showing 231rwkw. I’d been at Elite before and the Ute had been on there on a dyno day, showing 132rwkw. So I was a happy man.
