Perko, not sure your keen but I notice Jim on aff from WA now having a white S6 is going to fit a shark fin aeriel - I'll be keen to know if the reception is a ok.
Also, being defective was talking of plastidip I came across another product that impress's me how its applied.
Its not for coating protection but a change of "looks" on many types of components.

Check out the vid how these graphics are applied.
I'm keen as on the carbon finish - I've seen pics done by a guy I know, looks mad if inclined.

I have read a heap of posts about the shark fin. General consensus seems to be that around town the reception is pretty good. However once out of town it is very average. Not a huge fan of it.

Love the hydrographics. Wheeler Dealers have used it a number of times on their cars. I love the carbon finish. There is a guy on AFF who has done it on a FG XR8. Looks really nice. If a had the BF would probably go for it. But for the FGX probably that step too far for what I want in my car.

Just an update today. Got Vader back and the front bar is done. Pretty happy with the job done. Unfortunately found a decent chip in the paint on the front rim. Ford won't cover that under warranty and suggested that I purchase another rim! Not happy about the chip but can accept to a degree that this will happen if the car is driven.

Got my 12 months roadside assistance extended today for free. That fact that it is done through my RACQ account is pretty good. Well done Ford. Must say the overall experience from the dealer has been very good. They have fixed the little things I have asked for. Now that the new Ranger has arrived for work I think the km's for Vader will be reducing. Good time to give it a good clean up and get a few jobs done.

Good that the front bar job is to your satisfaction and the dealer....I'm hoping I'll experience the same in the future.

Yes mate I know re shark fin reception, seems Jim has lined this up via the Ford parts bin that the Escape is the closest match, we shall see, I told him glad he's the guinea pig for I'm watching this closely just in case it works !
Re the hydroed FGXR8, yes looks mad, I know the guy well JR, he's lining up having the car ready for Syd AFD, hoping it doesn't clash with things so I can get there check it out.
As you've read he bought a written off FGXXR8 as well, putting the FGX rear on just as Jamie has on his GT. A rippa build keeping an eye on.

Been a while since I have been on here in any decent form and a while since Vader has had some real love. Decided to have some "me" time this evening. Footwell lights have always been something I have been wanting to do. The theme of original looking mods is something I wanted to stick to. Because of this I only did the footwell lights and not the centre console one. My thoughts being the XR8 should have got the footwell and the G6E the centre console one. I have a centre console one in case I change my mind.

Was good to have Vader on the hoist again.

After a fair bit of mucking around the job was done.

I have put the process in another part of the forum for others to see. With this out of the way there are only a few more things left on the list, but with the current budget won't be getting to them for a little while.

Thanks mate. Only one more real mod I want to make, and that is painting the brakes black. After this the rest are just bonuses if budget ever opens.

Not much happening with Vader as he is pretty much done and dusted on the mods scene. The big jobs require big money so they are on the back burner for now. One simple job done on Australia Day.

The DJRTP will be coming in February. Never supported the teams in the past this way. Kind of feels satisfying. Had the front bumper done with Ceramic Pro a couple of weeks ago. Needed it done since Ford did the new bumper for me. The differences in the finish are still impressive between the before and after. Oil and filter change done on Australia Day as well. Due to the reduction in km's I am doing, I have decided to change the oils every 5000km's regardless of the time taken. Maybe a bit of overkill but for a few extra dollars worth the piece of mind.

Decided that I needed to add a bit more protection for the bar. Saw a picture of a FGX in Carsales with a lower spoiler lip. So I grabbed one of Ebay, took to old tape off, grabbed some quality 3M tape and applied. Personally I like the end result. Gives the spoiler a bit more menace but also protects it from scrapes. For the money I am happy with the outcome.
