We may largely skip an update.
Ive just PMed someone at MAP who work on the line last year, his contact at FRAP is saying
that MY18 RHD production begins October / November but will check with is team leader.

It sounds to me like the production has to be done at once so the line is not re-balanced,
the current mix is something like nine LHDs to one RHD. It may be that we're down the
queue on allocations but still, maybe the gap is not 12 months..

    So Europe spec first?

Dealers have been Told not to expect MY18 cars till Aug/Sept.

The other thing that may have happened is Ford AU have locked into forward orders of MY17 based on revised targets and that stock will see them out till mid 18?

Dunno, but its potentially 9 months without any fresh stock coming into the country and that's simply unacceptable.

Welcome to the import business. Better late than never I guess. That gap, should it happen should work out to be a good time for existing low km Mustang owners to sell and get good money before the new model arrives.

Mustang must already have one of the best resale values on the market too. 9 month gap will only improve that.

I've been advaised that MY18 Mustang Job 1 is now sometime in October - that US domestic production.
So I'm guessing they will want to build their own invenry up before Christmas so perhaps the RHD exports
get pushed back to something like January start... that could explain a lot, especally flling UK orders first.
If Flat rock stays at it current 16,000 odd a month, that will mean they will be producing around 1600 RHD
each month, so you can see the dilemma...

Yep, but it doesn't explain why they're not starting production of ours till approx may/June allowing for 10-12 weeks in transit.

Ford is going to stockpile Mustangs at Broadmeadows that dealers can order direct. Not sure on how many but its a number of cars. Ford will also cover the holding costs so dealers don't have to have them on their floor plan. I assume they are ordering cars based on the last 12 months of data regarding colours and options.
