There is multiple reasons why this happened. Some were poor hose clips. There was vibration. Personally I think it's mainly poor maintenance of the cooling system. I always change it every 2 years. Folks bf has had the same one for 10 years.
In terms of frequency of failures due to the multiple issues they can stem early on or later down the track.
Are these good? I'm planing on changing my heat exchanger on my turbo with a pwr one. To me they are one of the aftermarket mobs that make quality products.
In terms of servicing the 4 speed I use to do it every 40000ks. Oil is cheap and they're a tuff unit that run really well when serviced regularly. You can tell when the oil is getting a bit old (you should never have a delay going from reverse to drive).
