The second part of your question is to do with politics, time and funds.

You know when Detroit had to sign off on the ride night of T3? Well something similar occurred with Miami. It had an approval number stuck to it.

The black concept car was to produce 3 models.

The black as we saw was an immediate production model

The Rspec followed and focused on the suspension as depicted by the concept

    The 3rd was to be.............

Prodrive and Ford parted ways. Not because of any argument over product funding but rather a very large elephant called closure.

Ford invested considerable funds in acquiring the FPV business and relocating shops.

From that point in however Ford was all about saving money. We saw some FPV models retired, process streamlined to return higher profits but no product advancement.

This brings us up to the FPV end announcement with a time line and a dream to go out in the best way possible.

The approval for GTF power didn’t come from Australia. It wasn’t an easy thing to get in but it’s the start of a beautiful story
History is a statement, the future is a question.

I believed it was to do with failing a test. Which test exactly, is speculation, but the advancement in ECU allowed that issue to be satisfied.

There were certainly stories about the firewall related directly to GT-H but instead all Miami cars received an upgrade and as far as I know this bracing went through till the end.

I want to be clear. I don’t know the truth. Some documents did find their way out from behind Fords doors but who knows.

Does this mean that the GTF have a different ECU compared to the Rspec GT?

Or that the GTH required a different ECU to the standard Miami?

I know we are getting off track here. Don't want to hijack the Premcar HG

With all due respect and meaning to single you out here Ian but this is what shits me about forums these days. Half stories and missing pieces big enough to drive a cruise liner through.

The firewall issue even being officially an issue is something I have learned today (and I suspect I'm not alone here) yet now we're being told that it was rectified in 2010. I'm sure this was asked about back when the hg was first released and could have been clearly addressed then and wasn't but is addressed here as something that is done dealt with and old news.

Maybe I missed it somewhere because I don't have the time to collect and assemble the jigsaw pieces to get the full story but god damn this would all be less frustrating for everyone if we didn't leave plot holes to get people to read between the lines and get what is being said without being said.

Perhaps I'm just getting old, lazy and cranky. Sorry all I'll hand the soapbox back now and go back to my corner.

Sorry for the late reply mate...

RRP $675 rears and $485 fronts, but no one ever pays RRP...

In reality, probably around $560 rears and $420 fronts. May get a little better, but close to $2k for the tyres.

Lol, I did ask the question about 100 posts back, and you are right - there are so many rumours or stories around on forums.

I hope the issue has been resolved. It may ease my mind a little. I have noticed a small crack in my windscreen, looks to be originating from the passenger side A pillar, about half way up.. I must admit, I was hoping it was not any chassis flex as such.

I have been trying various tyres, and the current ones are so friggin stiff in the sidewall, I am blaming them. Even the wife picked up the firmer ride.

P.s. Sorry for going further OT...

Back to HG, unfortunately I am on the sidelines for now... costs, plus logistics of being in Perth makes it all too hard...

    I can’t help what you don’t read.

Most of what’s been covered here was covered in threads back in 2010. You know as it happened.

The problem now going back over it all is being accurate. I am not about to go back 9 years to what was written in AFF.

Most people should remember that Miami was delayed, delayed and delayed. It missed multiple launch dates to the point Rod Barrett announced famously, “it will be released when we are ready and not before”

You are going off about something that occurred 9 years ago and was covered at length at the time.

    Half truths?

    Rumours?

Nothing was ever officially spoken so all there is is effectively unsupported assumption.

Specifically the firewall was addressed with Miami. I can’t tell you if people are regressing with age and getting the issues confused OR if there are now Miami cars showing fractures in the fire walls.

What are you actually talking about?

It’s possible there is an issue now that I dont know about but unequivocally A firewall issue was address very late in 2010.

Hate to break it you guys, but I suspect there is a lot of issues we don’t know about. That’s the nature of the beast

The ECU as would have been fitted to GTH is the same as an ECU fitted to a GT of that age. FG2 is updated and then I think there are software revisions that come after that.

It depends specifically why GT-H was cancelled which includes outright politics.

Some at the time were saying, it was too much of an issue for Ford. That phase 4 was still etched in their brains.

Market, media would not accept a car like that at that time. A GTP was pushing 90k drive away.

A GTH was going to top over 100k in 2010.

GTH was a trade mark registered by Ford in 2008.

The car we believed it was to be applied to was the mule caught in Sweden wearing a car bra with flaps over the driving lights. They covered twin radiators for the cooling of the supercharger.

The 3rd car that was to come from the black concept was said to be “the car we always wanted” but this occurs in 2012
