Upgrading the diff bushes comes at a compromise in drivability and comfort. I assume that is why Ford never addressed it moving from the OEM Rubber to a Nolathane polyurethane based product. The OEM Rubber privides a level of flexibility and quiteness that the Nolathane equivalent doesnt. Again, my assumption is Ford and possibly Premcar have priorited drivability over durability in this case.

I am with you. Just been on the phone to both norm and maurie and we have said basically the same thing. Its just a throw away item you replace.

I have changed them out on my FPV GT for the obvious reasons. It has compromised the noise and drivability quite noticeably.

Diff bush problem is def not from lowering the car. I've gone through a few of them and not one of my cars was lowered. They're soft and the control blade design chews them out. Funny enough the whole thing wouldn't be a drama if you could replace them without dropping the cradle.

The poor diffs in these things is a bigger issue.

haha not as frequent - though depending how you drive your Ford.
I have been involved in suspension for a long time, long before PU bushing became the vogue/trend.
Never liked it and seen enough back to back testing and failures it has caused depending the usage.
These donkey certain shock brands that have them on their mountings, worse for off road, I've seen weak welds let go, if good welds then the whole end cap with mounts lets go.
    NVH sucks as Col mentions.
Horse's for course's in some applications I get it, stabiliser bar links etc, pan hards but control arms etcetc for street cars your kidding me but marketing marketing convinced many.
Out last OE or Aftermarket rubber such as Mackay, I'll fit it anyday everyday compared to PU.
I shouldn't say so regards the retail market keep away from nolathane, its duro sucks, Superpro is the better more complaint product for those inclined.
My diff bushs haven't gone as yet @ 16thou k's but I'll keep putting rubber on.

No but lowering supposedly can speed up the process. Stock xr6s can have diff brushes fail.

I get quite baffled by the failures like the diff bush's.
Now many of us have been at You Yangs faciltiy and seen the number of test sections that is set up to put X new model through its paces, abused like mad in regards to pot hole simulation but worse, some of those gaps/holes divided by those metal ridges you'd think it would bust anything weak under car pretty quick, (as a Enthusiast owner you know you avoid as much as possible on the road ahead that would shatter your tyres/rims suspension plus avoid rattling your teeth might I add) then I'm sure they do launch after launch - bang into reverse hard and stomp on the accelerator again and again, probably not the way I'm quoting but you know what I mean, overall they give the new model extreme abuse right.
Didn't the blade diff bush's let go prematurely ? surely they did.
