Just bought a 1987 Fairmont

Nah, it is staying as it sits. Got the air con serviced Tuesday, just needed re-gasing, got the front end aligned yesterday, the seller got a bit of suspension work done before selling it, but it needed a bit more plus an alignment

Whacked it on the hoist yesterday arvo and gave it a service, engine oil, filter, air filter and changed the diff oil. The seller (who was the original owners daughter, in her 70's) had recently got a new water pump on it, so coolant is fine and had the trans serviced as well. Gonna do all the belts on the weekend. 4 of the tyres were dated 2010, but the spare was dated 1987, so put 5 new tyres on it.

It had a bit of an oil leak, but it turns out both the sump bolts and rocker cover bolts were loose so hopefully that is all, all tightened up now

Gave it a polish Monday, and used some Macguires Black to revive some of the black plastic

The bonnet has a bit of 'crows feeting' going on (must have been parked in a shed that allowed a bit of sunlight in ever since it was parked up), took it to a reputable panel beater yesterday. He was beside himself when he saw it, couldn't believe the condition and the fact it has no rust. He said to leave the bonnet as it is just part of the car and its history, he said it looks like on-one had ever put anything in the boot lol. I will probably get the bonnet painted later, about $1k, back to bare metal.

Gonna replaced all the chrome striping in the bumpers and on the sides, you can buy replacements

I put our EL Fairmont Ghia on club rego last year, I was gonna sell it to help pay for this, the EL needs a closed door respray, a few knocks etc, but the missus took it for a drive late last week and has decided to keep it (bless her), the prices for 2nd hand cars is a bit shit at the moment. So now the back shed has the 1966 XP Coupe, this and the EL Ghia. The front garage has the Ranger and the missus's Mazda 3 (another interesting buy - deceased estate, my daughter-in-law's grandfather, 2015, 64,000 k's, like a brand new car, bought late last year)
