My point was majority of those buyers are more likely new adpators to EV than actual coupe owners.
Saw 2 on the road on my recent 2wk trip there.
The Mustang brand remains quite niche here in Australia, unlike in America.

I agree that new adopters of Ford products in Australia would probably make up a significant portion of buyers. It would be interesting to see the breakout of sales customer profile data. For example, have they owned a Ford before, have they owned a Mustang before etc

For me, I like that the Mach E offers a perception of pedigree and performance that most other EV SUV's on the market do not. But this does come at a price premium that's difficult to justify as already discussed.

In Australia, I suspect time to market, increasing competition and pricing strategy have all been barriers to sales, although prices have now received some realignment from 2024. Unlike in the US, we also lack a sense of patriotism about the Mustang brand as we had with models like Ranger, Falcon, Territory, Holden etc

    EV's - It's time

Mustang is niche period here and always will be - especially its pricing for like f150 they are taxi type pricing there so to speak whereas here it’s highway robbery for what they really are hence why the Asian product is so dominate in volumes where the 2 Ford products normally are.
Mache pricing is an utter pisstake here not that I’m interested but to the Joe average consumer it’s in euro price territory.
It’s branding and pedigree means nothing here as well talking ev, only the unassuming ill informed buys one here not coupe buyers normally.
Anyway I’m not one who has got caught up with all the pr about ev, it’s a smoke and mirrors game that many uniformed and gullible people get caught up with and in the meantime general public pay the price due to gov policy atm.

EV's make up 7% of new car sales in Australia.

Market research says EV prices need to drop on av 31K to attract large uptake.

Our targets are impossibly high presently.

Hybrids stand the best chance of decent uptake in the next 10-15 years.

They hit 9.5% market share last month and is growing.

Globally 20% of new car sales were EVs.

I'm going to bet on about 15% for this year as long as there are no supply issues.

Hybrids introduce unnecessary complexity to vehicles that can be avoided totally with EV adoption. Only people keen on hybrids are the businesses that don't make money selling cars but rather by servicing them

Because you build only a few doesn't mean demand is high.

    oh that so.....
Tell that to toy crowd here that stopped taking orders for the camry back in Oct 23 due to extraudinary demands.
Sure OE's have experienced supply/shipping delays but demand is there talking Oz let alone other countries.
Like ev though started from a low base hybrids will keep growing in sales as well.

Yes, and more Model 3's were sold than Camry's... But you're right, not a supply issue (or product mix issue).

Not just Camry Hybrid. We've got Hybrid Rav 4's ordered that extend beyond 2 years wait.

We cancelled some Camrys and ordered full EV's in their place but that's not the answer to all, getting charging infrastructure in place is an issue.

Yep. Again, hardly any supply and bad product mix again.

Only reason RAV beat Model Y last year was because of the ships that were turned back. If they had been allowed to unload, EV would've beaten Hybrid/ICE in that segment too
