With the herrod cams, why did you choose to go with them over the other brands out there, say Crow, for example?

G'day Gab. The reason I went with the Herrod cams is for two reasons. I wanted better torque and midrange from my Boss motor. I wasn't interested in outright power. Some of the cams that I have seen generate more power but at higher revs. I am not interested in spinning at 6500 rpm all day and not interested in lining up for a "who's got the most power" game that some blokes love. A useable motor with good all round characteristics is what I am chasing. The ute is driven mostly on weekends and I also have some fun on the track. So the the package must be nice to drive around town and the highway but also have some stonk on the track. I think these cams are perfect for this with my current set up.

The second reason is that I wanted that old school V8 idle without the need for 3 inch exhausts and big lumpy cams. The Herrod cams sound awesome and I have driven in a GT that had them installed. Very impressed with the sound and improved torque and midrange.

If there was a third I would say that Rob Herrod does great work, so I would back his products day in day out. He has helped me with advice even though I am in Toowoomba. My way of sticking with a business that offers great service and back up.

Thanks mate. If it's OK I will ask you for some advice for track days soon. After some improvements without going overboard.

No worries mate, happy to help and in a public way too. The more people out there on the track, the better. I'll always be around.

That's a given Daz. Looking at getting down to Qld Raceway more this year and a few other track days. Will let you know when the ute goes into Elite. If you are about town that week I will let Paul know that you can take it for a spin.

The ute looks fantastic mate. I like the mods you have done, it's made it a bloody nice car.

Thanks for all the comments guys. Like all good things sometimes they come to an end. I have decided to sell the ute. It will be returned to standard and then sold. Some of the parts I will keep and some I will sell on Ebay. I love this ute but the need to take more than one passenger has meant that it is time to say goodbye. It's been a good ride but I am looking forward to the new beast.

I think we're also looking forward to your new beast. It's just that we don't know what it is.
“…The lies (Western slander) which well-meaning zeal has heaped round this man are disgraceful to ourselves only…How one man single-handedly, could weld warring tribes and wandering Bedouins into a most powerful and civilized nation in less than two decades….A silent great soul, one of that who cannot but be earnest. He was to kindle the world; the world’s Maker had ordered so." - Thomas Carlyle
