Everyone else has got already. The GTE problem was a price and positioning issue, not to mention the G6ET was almost as good for almost $30k less. I can only imagine now how well a G8E with the 315 blown 5.0 would have been received way back in 2010. The desirability of that engine may have overcome its short coming in equipment compared to the VF, but its all a mute point now.

Anyway, lets not go there. We are focusing on the FGX. For mine, the G6E Turbo is the standout by quite a margin, but I would buy the XR8 purely for the 335, suspension and brakes.

QFT, the GT-E is a lost cause in the context of the FG X.

I'd like to know where Carsales think they can get an XR8 for $52K from though. I'd sign up yesterday if that were the case. Looks like my "buy in July" plan is staying put.

Id love to know where anyone can get an XR8 for $52K... i constantly keep seeing people say what a bargain they are for $52K....

Somebody needs to remind people they need pre delivery and onroad costs. A manual is $60k DA now.

iv just spent a couple of hours at the local dealer driving the mondeo and xr8.
    more about that shortly ...

but: the sales manager mentioned he had sold three GTE,s and recently had enquiries from them re upgrades.
He has nothing to offer, the xr is not the in the class they are looking.
They will iether stay for longer, Mondeo Titanium , buy a Calais, or go european ?
Non of which is a viable alternative for him !

Well certainly that was the case for me yesterday when I priced one. Although salary packaged would be a bit cheaper.

The new Merc- C Class is a pretty compelling proposition right now.

Till you have to sit in one.

Mercedes has really screwed up with these new generation cars as far as seating position, head room and getting in and out of them. im 195 cm and my hair rubs on the roof lining in a c class, a class and gla class. Very disappointing!

See the Government salary packaging provider I use (one of two I have to use) prices up the XR8 at $52,490 incl GST

But I know Ford put the prices up recently and I think the XR8 is now $54,490 excl. CTP, rego, dealer delivery and so forth.

Now I know they say they use their fleet buying power and don’t deal with the salesmen they deal with the fleet managers/dealers, but I think their numbers are way off.

One reason I prefer the g6e is the lack of the bonnet bulge. I really dislike the xr8 bonnet, but have to admit I haven't seen one in person up close yet.

Fg bulge was in your face and agressive, fgx doesn't know what it wants to be.
