I'd almost go for the fg just on rarity. They're the forgotten gt really.

I remember having a run with a stock 5th anniversary one at Willowbank when I had my xr8 and it smoked the xr8. I was surprised how much quicker it was. I think that run I did a 13.8 but can't remember what he ran.

FG GT is a clear winner over the B-series.

Looks are subjective... But performance is not. The 5.4 is a dog. A black mark on Ford's V8 history.

Bollocks. And fg gt had the 5.4 too....

The 260s were certainly underwhelming, but the 290s went pretty well.
I think the 5.4 cops such vitriol simply because of how good the t6 is.

Ive owned 2 260 XR8's and a 220 XR8, the 260's were both a fair bit faster than the 220, both kept up with 260 Clubsports and Motor got a 13.9 from a BF XR8....

    Often Internet myths create "truths"....

Sure, they went 'ok'. Certainly went better than my Getz.
I spent plenty of time in a BA1 GT a fews years ago, and compared to say, a 5.6 TE50, it was disappointing.
It didn't like to rev, all it's go was in a very narrow RPM band. And all that weight over the front axle... Yuck.

Felt slow, because it was, and lacked character to boot.

Drove a 302 briefly (GS), and couldn't pick much difference to the 290.

    Never drove a 315... Couldn't be bothered.

You sure you drove a 5.4? One of the 5.4's strengths and criticisms is its too peaky and only works from 3000 rpm upwards???

My 260's were pretty dead down low bit LOVED to rev.

Haha, yeah. It came on around 3000, and teetered off at maybe 4500... Just felt flat after that.

That's a sick car, sorry to say they are nothing like that, done well over 100,000 K's with 5.4's and while they have their issues, revving isn't one of them.

The Windsors (220/250) are like that, sign off early but not the 5.4.
