Thread: GT V Clubsport.... your verdict.

I think HSV are about to raise the bar quite considerably with the upcoming VF. I hope have FPV's Rspec can bank roll some more serious kit to their future models.

Did I hear right that FPV ultimately want the R-Spec suspension updates to filter through the rest of the sedan range?
If so, Maybe FPV should look at a new car to sit above the GT that adds to the experience and matches a S/C GTS?

    A couple of points:
    1) VF is still ages off
    2) Clubsport isnt getting a S/C engine, so in the GT price point its still game over
    3) VF Clubsport will keep the current LS3 well into VF
    4) The whole point of creating Halo cars is to R+D future DNA to flow into your regular production models, point in Case W427.

    Old hot rodders saying.

If you can't afford a Ford. dodge a Dodge and rev a Chev.

I am so biased I'd buy a 5.4 over a HSV. So there will be no further intelligent input from me.

The aim is not to convert the the already blue blood supporters, it's to attract back the swing buyers who see a great car and buy it.
IMO, FPV have the ascendency at the moment with powerful engines and new handling package, these are golden months before VF
and plenty of time to win back buyers, the last two months has seen FPV back up averaging near 2,000 annual sales, it's a great start....

    All good points.
We know VF is early next year, any idea when the VHS range will follow?
GTS would get LSA and for bragging rights, at least, it could swing things back their way, and I think that's important for brand perception in some way.
Ultimately you're right, from a price point it may be game over, unless base HSV models get some interesting tech. I think if GTS' price ain't right they could be taking on quite a risk in outlay. Don't want another W saga.

Note to HSV: Check with Holden if they can install LSA on assembly line. LOL.

    Tony, I like that.

Yes I think Ian brought that up here or on FB.
It all goes back to bragging and what's "best". The standard GT's handling may not be as good as HSV's on the circuit but do the majority of GT owners really want a stiff(er) ride, or do they want a good all-rounder?
Maybe the Rspec option on it's own could be offered. Dunno.

I think that the Falcon will have a surge of sales next month if all the allocated FPV RSpec cars get sold straight off the floor which seems they will. Imagine a month where 350 ie 30% of sales are FPV!!!!

The talk is 2nd or 3rd qtr 2013 for VF and 3 months after for HSV VF?? So possibly 12+ months off yet.
GTS pricing has been hinted at ~ $110K, also GTS will return to being a special again and not a regular production model.

So while it may have bragging rights depending on the outcome of Tempest it will also be seen as a stand alone special.

VF update can't come soon enough for HSV haha - there must be many meetings how are they going to maintain sales of the current abomanation they have - disgruntled current owners are going to be very unhappy for discounting is the only way to keep sales UP !
