OK ... so they bring it out in 2015!!! Same result.
Australian Muscle Car ... "It is a sensational high performance vehicle; a beautifully engineered and immensely capable four door Grand Tourer or 'GT' in the truest sense of that tradition."

No prize for guessing what car they were referring to ... OWN THE ROAD ...

You have pre-empted where I was going. The biggest question for people looking at this particular end of the Falcon market is was it in the original plan. Now that its confirmed is there scope to go back to Detroit and ask for more money to make this happen.

For example if I were Ford Australia and was dealing with people in the US I would have fought tooth and nail to include a clause or a consideration that in the event of the decision to shut Australia we would like to revisit options to send the Falcon out as we feel the longest running Ford brand name deserves. It will be expected, no it will be demanded of us and perhaps buy consideration as we shift towards the new Ford world.

In my mind and I have always said this for Ford to come back to a GTHO it will need to be a celebration of the end of Falcon. Its the cheat that undoes a lot of arguments of a technical nature. Its the car that arguably defined Ford Falcon so it too can be the car that puts the exclamation mark on it.

I don't want to drag this any further but when I read the carsguide article even though I knew this would be the behaviour of Australians this could have been avoided if people just continued to support the brand. No offence intended but now the vultures come in. The guys who haven't done anything in 10 years looking to make an investment. the guys stuck back in the 70s seeing an opportunity to invest. The guys that tell me my GTs aren't real. Guys that have moved on to European cars running our country down while finding the money to buy the W427 and actively patrolling for a sniff of the HO.

If you think this sounds like a nerve exposed you haven't see anything yet.
History is a statement, the future is a question.

We will see how genuine Ford are about celebrating FALCON over the next 12 months..... FU will either be a cracker or after thought... Then we will know if GTHO is likely...

Dunno whether it is the keyboard warriors or not, there is alot of agro by American Facebook users , lamenting the passing of the Australian built Falcon.
As Norm has noted, the Mustang does not suit everybody, some of our friends in America have seen the Falcon via Speed Channel, & noted this would be a perfect RWD Family car.
The Falcon turbo series of sedans, would sell like hotcakes (apparently).
Questions are being asked of Ford America as to why this car was never exported to America?
One American Facebook follower, made the comment "I don't want to drive an "F" Truck, my family is too big for a Mustang, the Aussie Falcon in turbo, or supercharged configuration would have suited me to the ground"
I shudder to think what may have been, it was alright for Ford Australia to export the Capri to America (discounted & sold at a loss) years ago, but not the Falcon?

Here's a challenge to you Mr Dowling. I'd like you to put your journalistic talent to good use for once and find out from Dearborn why they never supported the export of Ford Australia cars, and why they have been trying to shut the place down for years. There is more to this than meets the eye.

I will be hanging onto all 3 of mine now. The F6 is due for replacement in 2015, but I will put that one away and try and get one of the last GT's with the lot. Up until this announcement, I have thought about a GT, but it's never been a 'want'. But now it has become a 'must have' for my collection. Work wise, I will end up with a ranger, it's just more practice for what I do and the 3200 towing makes sense for the race car.
So come 2016, the plan will include 5 cars! It's becoming borderline ridicules! but if you believe in something or have a passion for it, then it makes sense.

Now I just need to find the money tree

Oh, and I have already spoken with my brother on me buying back the red XR8, but he said its not for sale now, he will update to a newer model or a GT, but wants to keep the XR8 in the family for his new son, he's only 4 months old, but Nath wants him to know what the falcons were, so it will end up being his when he is old enough to drive.

Sorry to be captain wet blanket. But I can see them doing a GTHO. Who in Detriot is going to sign that off. Do they even know what a GTHO is or what it means? and if so do they care? The big issue is once the shock is gone and this all settles down. Will sales and manufacturing remain viable all the way to 2016.
The problem with society today, is that nobody drinks from the skulls of their enemies anymore.

I have already spoken to the "boss" and informed her that if the 2014 Falcon is everything I am chasing then in 2016 the BF is gone. Have started saving and all major plans for the Ego machine are now on hold until I see what it looks like and what models come out. For me its simple, I am looking for XR8 in an Ego or dark blue colour, manual, leather, premium sound with all the tech goodies, and decent rims. If the XR8 isn't on the cards then I will look at the GS.

However you would think that as Ford have nothing to lose, then they can easily bring out some name badges that have dropped over the years. Finish with a blast and give us all what we want. For me it's a XR8, for others it may be a great car with embodies the HO nameplate. Have Ford got the gall to finish like this? Only time will tell. I'd like to think that I will be taking a loan out in 3 years time...not finishing one.
