Be careful, there's an avid US circle of Ford RWD supporters who have convinced themselves that Ford is readying
a new RWD platform for Mustang as the basis for new RWD coupe and sedans Lincolns. The originator of this story
has been pushing this theme for at least three years with ongoing explanations every time nothing materialises.
This may or may not be true, I for one wish it were but remain skeptical given the form of such past rumors
and the ongoing lack of imperial evidence from sources that Ford is considering any new RWD sedans.

I thinks that's given mate and about time too as I much prefer the later styling with heritage cues.
I would think that Mustang's evolutionary path will bring it into alignment with electrical systems available
on Ford's volume product sedans while retaining it's rRWD flavor and power trains courtesy of F150 program.
Part of me really hopes the Mustang program now gets expanded to allow a "Maverick" but I'm not convinced
that the US sees it as a high enough priority...although Lincoln's future needs for a LS type car may see it happen.

Yeah I can only go off those who I think are reputable. JEM in this case.
There are others who have suggested Mustang will be based off CD4 (Fusion). I have no previous insight to this character but he puts up an argument that only someone knowledgeable about the topic is able to debunk. The point is if someone like JEM says it's new how can someone like me who knows jack say he's wrong? You know more than me so do you have info that suggests otherwise, or is there a certain reason why it cannot be all-knew?
Furthermore a source other than wescoent - who I have not monitored for about a year - has unknowingly/innocently said things that allow me to come to the conclusion that it is in fact all-new to Mustang.
It could well be as you say and if it is I will then know that even the most reputable sources - in this case being JEM - are given misinformation.

History is a statement, the future is a question.
Miami for Mustang?

The reports are a little conflicting. Ford say it's definitely not retro, and then after the employee reveal recently one guy's saying it's very evolutionary and he thought it was the current model. He did also say it had a bit of '67 fastback in it. Below is another description..
"Dang, if you squint your eyes and elongate the hero stang a bit to give it a sleeker, lower look, that is pretty much what next stang will look like."
There's only one vehicle that has the Shelby badge at the moment. Later there'll be two.
